Regulations

Pest Control Is Part of Your Clinic Licence

In Abu Dhabi, pest control is not only a hygiene choice for a clinic. It is part of the paperwork. The Department of Health’s Standard for Healthcare Facility Licensure (version 6, June 2025) lists a pest control contract among the documents a facility provides for its permanent licence, and asks that contracts be valid for 13 months. If your contract has lapsed, or your provider cannot give you proper reports, that gap shows up when you renew.

Only Licensed Companies and Registered Products

Since May 2024, the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) oversees permits for all pest control activity in the emirate. Every product we use is registered with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE), and comes with a label and a safety data sheet you can hand to an inspector.

A Written Standard for Medical Facilities

Abu Dhabi's reference standard for pest control scope and frequency has a full chapter on hospitals and medical centres, covering clinics, dental clinics, laboratories and cosmetic centres. We build every clinic contract on that standard, so your plan has a clear basis rather than a guess.

Facilities We Serve

Healthcare Facility Pest Control for Every Type of Practice

No two clinics have the same risks. A dental practice with a small staff pantry is very different from a medical centre with a pharmacy, a laboratory and a busy waste room. We plan around the building you actually run.

General Clinics and Polyclinics

Waiting areas, consultation rooms, staff pantries and toilets.

Dental Clinic Pest Control

Treatment rooms, sterilisation areas and stock cupboards.

Medical Centre Pest Control

Multiple departments, shared corridors and larger waste areas.

Medical Laboratories

Sample storage, sinks and drains, with very little chemical use.

Pharmacies

Stock rooms, delivery points and cardboard storage.

Cosmetic and Day Surgery Centres

Recovery rooms, laundry and clean stores.

Common Pests

Pests We Control in Clinics

The most common clinic pests in Abu Dhabi are the same ones the reference standard puts on a regular schedule for medical facilities. Each one needs a different approach.

German Cockroach

Pantries, behind vending machines, under sinks and inside equipment casings. Breeds fast indoors and moves between rooms on supplies and trolleys.

American Cockroach

Drains, floor traps, manholes and plant rooms. Comes up through drainage lines, often at night.

Ants and Pharaoh Ants

Along skirting, in wall voids, near sugary drinks and dressings. Spraying can split a pharaoh ant colony and make it worse, so we bait.

Flies and Drain Flies

Waste rooms, toilets and floor drains with buildup. A clear hygiene concern in patient areas.

Rats and Mice

Stores, ceiling voids, loading areas and outdoor bins. They gnaw cables and packaging and contaminate stock.

Mosquitoes

Water tanks, standing water and outdoor drains. They bite patients and staff in outdoor waiting areas.

Bed Bugs

Waiting room seating, recovery beds and staff rest rooms. Carried in by visitors and checked for at every inspection.

See our dedicated pages for cockroach control and bed bug control for more on each pest.

Inspection

It Starts With a Proper Clinic Inspection

Before we quote, a supervisor walks the whole clinic with your facility or infection control lead. We check pantries, sinks, floor drains, stores, waste rooms, ceiling access points, the outside of the building and the routes deliveries take. You get a written survey with a site map and a quote, so you know what will be treated and why before anything starts.

Monitoring Between Visits

In a clinic, the aim is to catch a problem before a patient does. We place numbered monitors and glue boards in the right spots, mark them on your site map and check every one at each visit. The counts show whether activity is rising or falling, and they give an inspector clear evidence that your clinic is watched, not just sprayed.

Treatment Method

Zone by Zone Treatment That Puts Patients First

A clinic is not one space. We split it into zones and use the gentlest method that works in each.

Patient and Clinical Areas

Treatment rooms, waiting areas, recovery rooms

Inspection and monitors first. Gel bait placed in cracks and inside fittings, never sprayed on open surfaces. Done only when the room is empty.

Staff and Support Areas

Pantries, staff rooms, toilets, laundry

Targeted gel and dust in voids and behind appliances, with clear instructions for staff after each visit.

Stores and Service Areas

Stock rooms, plant rooms, electrical rooms, waste rooms

Monitors, traps and targeted treatment of the cracks and voids where pests hide.

Outside the Building

Bins, drains, manholes, landscaping, parking

Tamper resistant rodent bait stations and drain treatment to stop pests before they reach the door.

Rodents: traps inside, bait outside

Abu Dhabi's reference standard for medical facilities says rodenticide is for outdoor use only, and indoor rodent control should use non-chemical methods. We follow that exactly: traps in secured boxes inside, locked bait stations outside. It also means no rodent dying in a ceiling void above a consultation room.

Service Frequency

How Often Should a Clinic Have Pest Control?

The answer depends on the pest and what we find, not on a fixed sales package. We start from the frequencies in Abu Dhabi’s reference standard for hospitals and medical centres, then adjust after the survey.

German Cockroach

Flies and Mosquitoes

Rats, Mice and American Cockroach

Ants and Bed Bugs

Most small clinics with no active problem start on a monthly visit with monitoring. If we find activity, we add follow ups until it is cleared, then return to the regular plan. Source: Abu Dhabi reference standard for pest control scope and frequency, Chapter 12.

Scheduling

Treatment Scheduling That Fits Your Clinic Hours

We book visits when your rooms are empty: early morning before the first appointment, after the last patient, or on the day your clinic is closed or quietest. Each visit is confirmed with your contact person in advance, and our team signs in and out with reception so you always know who is on site.

How to Prepare for a Visit

Documentation Your Inspector Will Want to See

In a healthcare setting, if it is not written down, it did not happen. We keep a pest control file at your clinic and update it at every visit.

Reports can also be sent to your infection control lead or facility manager by email or WhatsApp after each visit.

Preventive Recommendations That Stop Pests Coming Back

Treatment works best when the building helps. After each visit we list simple fixes, ranked by priority, such as:
